Patina & Finish

One reason artists love working with bronze is for the way it develops natural, beautiful colors. Well-guarded traditional recipes applied to the bronze can develop into a variety of natural effects. Patinas are the combined result of ancient secrets and unpredictable environmental conditions. The variation and surprise inherent in this process give us striking and deeply resonating color. Patination is not paint. We cannot repeat an exact color or pattern, nor would we want to. This delicate unpredictablitiy makes each urn uniquely beautiful within the range of color that you have choosen.

I take special pride in my patinas and give them ample time to develop and the careful consideration each urn requires to develop a deep complexity. These are not the bland, factory patinas you've seen elsewhere.

All finishes are protected with a durable satin lacquer. If the urn is kept indoors, then no further care is required. If the urn is placed outdoors then you can expect changes to the patina and protective finish to take place over time. If you wish to mantain its original appearance, you may apply a light coat of lacquer every two or three years. Care instructions are shipped with each urn.
